This is a topic more suited for the varnish-misc at projects.linpro.no
mailing list, varnish-dev is used for development of varnish.

The VCL should be configured according to your backend web application,
not necessarily the underlying hardware, virtual or not.

The default configuration should serve as well on an EC2 server as on
any other server.
